All undergraduate degree-seeking students at IU Bloomington are required to fulfill the World Languages and Cultures (WL&C) requirement as part of the General Education Curriculum.
To use international experience to satisfy the WL&C requirement, you must:
Complete an approved overseas experience of at least 6 credit hours and at least 6 weeks abroad in duration
OR
Complete a combination of two overseas experiences totaling 6+ weeks and 6+ credit hours abroad. You can only combine two overseas experiences if both of the following conditions are met:
- Both overseas experiences must, at a minimum, be three weeks abroad in duration
- You must earn at least 3 credit hours from both of the overseas experiences
*The two overseas experiences do not have to be completed during the same summer.
Students also have the option to participate in courses back-to-back and earn between 3-12 credit hours this summer!
