It is crucial that you meet with your O'Neill academic advisor prior to registering for an international experience that is not sponsored by the O'Neill International Office. Your advisor will help you understand the transfer requirements for non-O'Neill credits and how a non-O'Neill international experience can fit into your academic plan.
Once you have a general idea of how a non-SPEA study abroad program can work into your plans, head to the IU Office of Overseas Study to learn more about programs that best suit your interests.
After you select a program, you may want to visit your O'Neill advisor for a second time in your study abroad planning, this time for help in selecting overseas courses.
If you want a course to transfer as an O'Neill course you will first want to check here to see a list of courses that have already been approved by O'Neill: Approved Course List
If your courses are not on the approved list, you will need to submit the course for approval, by clicking here: Course Approval Form . Remember—only two courses can transfer back from overseas as major coursework, though you may submit more than two courses during the approval process in case one or more is denied.
For other questions not answered here, contact your O'Neill advisor for an appointment.
